CyberSOC in the Bank of Botswana

CyberSOC‘s 24/7 managed security services are provided to various organisations in Lithuania, including financial institutions. Globally, the financial sector is a prime target for cyber-attacks. These attacks are growing in sophistication and frequency, ranging from ransomware and data theft to attempts to disrupt financial systems. Banks hold vast amounts of sensitive customer data, including financial information, personal details, and transaction history. In addition, financial institutions around the world are subject to strict regulations. Therefore, sufficient efforts to increase resilience to cyber threats are critical.

Why did the Bank of Botswana choose a MSSP?

Experience and expertise

Lacking expertise in security operations, the bank wanted a reliable and reputable managed SOC provider.

NRD Cyber Security operates in the EU with high standards of cyber security maturity and already has a wide range of customers.

POC

Prior to commencing the provision of CyberSOC services, NRD Cyber Security specialists provided the Bank of Botswana with a proof of concept (POC) of:

  • IT infrastructure monitoring services (log correlation and analysis);
  • Traffic analysis service to identify security incidents in the infrastructure.

As a result, the bank received a POC performance report with detailed incident analysis, vulnerability scan statistics, etc. As part of the POC, the bank’s employees were also trained on cybersecurity best practices, how to identify potential threats and how to prevent security incidents.
